Information on researching companies

Companies are an increasingly popular way for charities to fund their work because they provide a wide variety of support. This might include:
  • standard donations
  • employee fundraising
  • charity of the year (COY)
  • volunteering
  • payroll giving
  • gifts-in-kind
  • sponsorship
  • cause-related marketing
  • matched gifts

Companies differ distinctly from trusts and foundations because they do not exist to give money but do exist to make money. However, many companies do donate a percentage of their profits to charitable causes as part of their 'Corporate Social Responsibility' (CSR) policies.

Some companies set up foundations as a vehicle for their philanthropy, while others keep it 'in-house'. Corporate fundraising therefore needs to be approached in a completely different way, underpinned by accurate and insightful information.

Hands on Research can provide a wide variety of profiles on individual companies, as well as company lists - by geographical location or by industry sector for example. Details might include:

  • contact information
  • financial details
  • key personnel
  • donor/sponsorship programmes

We can also use our resources to establish networks between people and companies, making it easier to access highly competitive funding.

We can offer basic company profiles, through to more in depth profiles, depending on your needs. These can also be linked to individual profiles of company directors.
